Ever thought of getting your domain name backlinks from YouTube, Squidoo, Blogger or Digg? Many experts say "Never". Others swear by them. Still, others go as far as to say "It's a good idea". What is the real answer, and how does one go about getting those coveted backlinks that will boost their page rankings?

First of all, let me say that I have watched many people create high PR backlinks using YouTube. However, not one of them achieved the rank success they were looking for. The main reason is that when someone watches a video on YouTube they read the comments left by the users and leave their own comments. Therefore, their video is seen as a "self-sponsored" promotion, and there are no expectations that the end result will be anything but a failure.

Search engines see this kind of behavior and penalize them accordingly. It is not uncommon for search engine results to show only the highest rated videos. This proves that even if a person does succeed in achieving backlinks through YouTube, it is unlikely that they will rank very high in the first two pages (for most search engines). If you want to optimize your domain name for the search engines, you need to build them organically using article directories, blogs, newsletters and other sites. In fact, I would argue that this is probably the best way to build them.

The problem with this method is that these backlinks take time to build. A person must spend the time to write the articles, submit them and make sure that the keywords are used correctly. In order to achieve the desired results in a short amount of time, you have to employ some advanced optimization techniques. The article directories are generally slow to act, as they are not expecting a visitor from Google, Yahoo or MSN. So, in effect, they are merely filtering the incoming links and not providing much in the way of content.

If you want to get backlinks to your website quickly and easily and without any delays, you need to use a method that employs keyword strategies and other optimization techniques to achieve the desired results. But, there is a problem here. While these techniques can get you backlinks quickly and easily, if you do not know how to implement them, you could waste a lot of time and effort. It is the case where a system that combines these techniques is the solution.

The best of these systems are the ones that can be completely integrated into your domain name registration process. Such systems are generally written in PHP and utilize a series of subdomains to achieve the desired result. For instance, you can register your name as "comicbook Reviews" and include a subdomain that corresponds to the keyword phrase that you wish to rank for. When someone clicks on the keyword "comicbook reviews", they will be directed to the relevant page. That is an example of using domain name backlinks.

Another example is to register your domain name as "books-in-chief". Your page rank is simply determined by the keywords that comprise your domain name. When somebody searches for "books-in-chief" in Google or Yahoo, they will be directed to your page. This is one of the simplest methods you can use to achieve the desired page rank for your domain name. There are a number of similar systems available for you to choose from and most will take very little time to implement.

Once you have optimized your domain name backlinks with the right software, you will be ready to enjoy the benefits. You can then watch the pages begin to rise in the search engine listings and see traffic flow into your web site. That is what you are looking for, traffic and conversions. You cannot beat the benefits you can achieve when you use keyword optimization, keyword research and building backlinks to achieve all this.
