The more backlinks you have to your site, the better. You want to create as many backlinks pointing to your website as possible. The more links you have pointing at your site, the higher the ranking that you will receive in the search engines. As a result, your site will begin to draw traffic and you will see an increase in traffic as well. However, there are some rules that you must follow when creating backlinks. If you don't follow these rules, you could end up hurting your page rank and your traffic.

The first rule is to never publish your URL directly onto another website. You must instead publish the domain name or URL link on another web page. This rule may seem a bit strange at first, but if you take a closer look at what you're doing, it makes sense. When you publish the URL directly onto another web page, you run the risk of someone else using that exact same link. They could link to your site from a different country or even from a different part of the world.

So instead of publishing your URL directly onto a blog or website, you would rather publish the domain name or URL link onto another location. This is because other people are less likely to be able to steal your link. The same can be said for article submissions. When you publish an article with your URL at the bottom of it, you are telling the search engines that your content is available for them to use.

In addition, you want to try to avoid the use of hyphens within the domain name. Hyphens are very easy to recognize as they are not part of a number. This makes them a much easier thing for a human to match with a domain name. A domain name that begins with a hyphen is more difficult to match with an anchor text backlink. So while it is true that you can get backlinks with hyphens, do not waste your time with them.

The next thing that you want to watch out for is the number of words in a domain name. You do not want to use words that have special significance for somebody else. For instance, if you were selling cat videos, you would not want to use the words "cat" and "virus". These types of words will give the spiders (the ones that crawl the Internet) a difficult time finding the link you want to backlink to. Instead, use words that have some sort of relevance to your site.

Another thing to keep in mind is that there should not be a lot of empty space between words and dot-com extensions. If there is a space, then it will be very difficult for the backlinks to connect. Just like with article backlinks, you need to make sure that the anchor text in the backlinks relates to the content on your site. If you do not follow this rule, then your backlinks will be useless.

The final thing to keep in mind when getting backlinks to your site is the domain name. Try to find a domain name that is related to your niche topic. That way, it will be much easier for people to click on that link. As long as it has keywords in the domain name, then you have gone about the process correctly. Just be sure that the keywords relate to your site as well so that the spiders will index your page properly.

If you follow these suggestions, then you are going to have a much easier time getting quality backlinks to your site. Not everyone will agree with what you choose to do, but at least you are taking a proactive approach. Instead of just sitting back, take an active role and try to find ways to get your domain name to rank higher on the search engines. That is the only way to create successful results. Now that you know how to create a quality backlink, all you need to do is put it into practice.
